The collection consists of 32 letters, including: nine letters to Mrs. Hugh Hammersley, containing social information; thirteen letters to Margaret Woods, many concerning her request to meet with French poet Alphonse Daudet; also, letters to Harper & Bros., Mr. Rork, Violent Hunt, an incomplete letter to Arthur Pinero, and Mrs. Arthur Symons, generally of a social nature. Also, three letters from Burgess Noakes, James' valet, to John C. Major, 9 Oct. 1962-3 Oct. 1963, about himself and his memories of Henry James, accompanied by two clippings on a similar theme.
